Our founder, Lucien Moore Robinson expressed his desire that 'The Neighborhood House and the Increase Library’ a.k.a. ‘The Increase Library, East Sumner' now doing business as ‘The Increase Robinson Library and Neighborhood House’, the first frame house built in Butterfield Plantation, now Sumner, Maine and erected in 1784 by his great-great-grandfather, Deacon Increase Robinson, be used and maintained as a memorial to the Deacon, is defined by our Founder Lucien Moore Robinson in his will on file at the Oxford County Probate Office, South Paris, Maine, Vol 8 Page 371, dated 29 August 1931 and Deed of Trust on file at the Oxford County Registry of Deeds, Volume 389, pages 389: 423-423 which reads, in part, from the Deed:
“…To suffer and permit the said Homestead and premises hereby granted to be used as a Community Center for the benefit and use of residents of Hartford and Sumner, and such other persons as the Trustees may designate, subject to such rules and regulations as the Trustees may prescribe.”
